Vinyl, what a wonderful way to listen to music. From that moment you take it out of the record shop you own a masterpiece of art, I love vinyl. I think it's the best way that someone could listen to their favourite song/album. As soon as the needle hits the disc as it slips into the groove, you hear that faint crackle and when you've got an old gem of a record it brings images of kids jumping around in the bedroom with tennis rackets pretending to be their favourite rock star. I know that's how I feel when I listen to records, I love to buy second hand because of the history - which people who buy charity shop clothes may understand - but I just love the thought of a kid first picking up that record (as I did), all shiny and new and not being able to wait until they got home to let the needle run across it.
I've been listening to records all day, the sun brings it out of me - I get all nostalgic when the sun's out. But it's the perfect thing to do in the summer, sit in the back garden and listen to a few classics and to hear them in their clearest form is always the best way to do it. So come on Britain, get your record players on!
