The Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society.
A concept album about the village green. If it was anyone else who'd come up with that idea I'd have called them mental but the Kinks being the Kinks pulled it off extremely well, with their 'only the English/British will get it' lyrics, folk-y music and guitar rhythm give an almost American feel to it, but still keeping England at the heart of the album. I do love a concept album (Tommy, Sgt Peppers etc...) and VGPS is a classic beyond classics, the Kinks very much excelled themselves when this was recorded and Ray Davies proved he was an all around brilliant song writer.
