Here's to you; The British Charts!

I've just managed to catch the BBC's fantastic documentary (from Friday) on 60's years of the British charts. What a fantastic watch it was, three parts documenting the three different eras of singles buying, the mistakes, tackling the copyright, and how the BBC became the empire for British music.
Catch it here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01nwfxs

What a fantastic 60 years we have had in our charts, from Elvis to Kylie, from the Beatles to Oasis - the charts have documented the rise and fall of each great musician and band to have ever graced the earth. It created interest for the first generation of teenagers, differing their listening to that of their parents and giving them something to put their money into, giving them something to be excited about. It was a fantastic thing to do; the invention of the charts and I'm glad the big heads at the BBC took the stick out of their arse's and realised how important music was becoming.

Well done BBC, you did something right.
