I'd never even listened to Bombay Bicycle Club before, I'd often been told that they were the most indie you could get, obviously referring to the genre/music specifics rather that that actual meaning of 'indie'. But there I am in a crowd of hundreds waiting to be incredibly surprised by this fantastic London band.
I learnt that the best way to see a band is often at a festival, when you go see a band at their own gig they don't work as hard but in this kind of atmosphere they must gain their own merit. Did Bombay Bicycle Club earn their merit? They earned a good five stars from me.
With a setlist full of songs like 'Your Eyes', 'What If', 'Always Like This' and 'Lights Out, Words Gone' it's easy to see why everyone in the audience had huge grins on their faces. The rain had left us, the mud on our clothes was beginning to dry up and we were been given the gift of music by one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen.
I want to give huge credit to Suren De Saram, one of the greatest live drummers I've ever seen, his energy was intense, during the set he had a drum solo which had me turn around to my friend Dan and tell him that this was the greatest live drummer I've ever witnessed, he was like a machine.
The whole band were brilliant and I've left T a huge Bombay Bicycle Club fan.
