Happy Birthday Sir Macca!

I've never been ashamed to admit that Paul McCartney is my favourite Beatle, and why should I be? He's been a fantastic influence on music since the age of twenty - and today he turns 70.

Paul McCartney is the main reason that I am writing about music now because without him getting me into the Beatles and for that to stem on into a huge love for music then I would probably still be rattling around listening to Busted. I have a lot to owe this man, for without him I wouldn't be so open minded about different music genres. One of the best moments of my life include standing outside his old home in Liverpool, to think that I was walking on the same ground that he had once stepped on blew my mind, to even been stood at the bus stop where he got onto a bus and met George Harrison - wow!

As a member of the Beatles I feel that McCartney is underrated. You always get people telling you how great Lennon and Harrison were as musicians, come on - this was the man who wrote Blackbird and Yesterday - two of the most beautiful songs to have ever been performed. When he is performing live everyone is just waiting for the Beatle songs, and there's me... waiting for his solo gear. I've heard him sing too many Beatles songs live, I want to hear his amazing solo songs that he's done! Paul McCartney has my favourite solo Beatle catalogue, I don't feel that there is an album or song he has done that I don't like, he can switch from classic to downright cheesy within two seconds, and that's why I love him so much.

And with that, I leave you with one of my favourites from Paul McCartney;
