Smile.

This version of the infamous song is sang by our very own Rod Stewart, I have yet to find a version that I absolutely adore but I must say; whenever I feel a little upset this is the song to get me through it. It has the power to make me instantly smile, the music that Charlie Chaplin composed has me so relaxed that I feel like I'm floating. But the words? I don't know what it is about them, they make me extremely optimistic.

The instrumentation of the song is forever kept to a simple piano or guitar, and I think this has something to do with the meaning of the song - because if the song had drums banging in from the middle of  nowhere, electric guitars screeching and bass guitars thudding the song would lose all meaning - no one would take note of the message. I've tried to play this song on an electric guitar and it sounds awful, no where near as effective as it sounds on my acoustic but it's one of those songs that has more to do with the lyrics than anything, and having a complicated arrangement would spoil the presence of it.

P.S Who makes these terrible videos?
