The Sub Rosas

The Sub Rosas, a great band that I will champion with all my might. They're a great two piece band from London, made up of Steve Dawson and Matthew James Heron, including themselves under the genres of 'Psychedelic, Folk-tinged, Indie, Punk, Rock n Roll' - now let's just have that as an opener, what an amazing line up of genres to come from one band, and they never disappoint. With such songs as 'The Quiet Room' sounding like it came from our very own Lennon & McCartney's later work, a psychedelic dream that has us float from chord to chord.

To know that there are only two members of the Sub Rosas blows your mind, I know that when I found out I refused to believe such a thing, but these two genius's pull it off brilliantly, producing, writing and playing their own work - getting each role done spot on every time. The way they use their recording techniques makes me wonder why they aren't working in some of Britain's top studios, Abbey Road are missing out on these two clever souls. I don't even know where I can begin on talking about their music, 'Eyes don't lie' is my favourite track, it's one of those tunes that lift up your spirits yet will make you feel as though you can rip apart the world - that is where you can see the Oasis influence.

Recently they worked on creating a tribute to a few songs off the great album, which is Revolver. The guys were nice enough to link me up with their track of 'Taxman'. I've always loved the bass line in that certain song, and these two don't mess about in emulating it in such a way you are fooled into thinking that it's the original. Great work lads!

When the guitar band revolution comes back (and trust me, it will), I know that the Sub Rosas will be heading that very revolution. Making British music to be proud of, again.
