Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.
To be honest, I wouldn't like it to be Christmas everyday, mainly because having a Christmas dinner everyday would take the joy out of it. Having said that I still do love Christmas, and this song - though whenever I hear it all I can imagine is Dave, from the Royle Family, singing it in his bath tub with a turkey in there with him (Royle Family fans will know what I'm talking about). I really quite like this song though, even with the stupid introduction of someone blowing a raspberry and, from what I'm guessing, is a till. It's such an uplifting song though, if this can't get you into the Christmas spirit then nothing will, who can't belt out the chorus when they hear it come on in the pub?
Usually Christmas songs are quite messy too, the instruments are everywhere and it's hard to make sense of what’s happening though this is very thought out, and I am a big fan of a saxophone in any song so that gets some extra points from me. That's what I truly like about this song, how clear everything seems to be and it has been carefully thought about because sometimes it feels as though some artists have just gone "Put this, this and this in it because they sound Christmas-y, doesn't matter where they go, just put them anywhere." But with this song it’s been carefully arranged and I applaud Wizzard for it.
Ok, now I'm in the mood for my Christmas dinner.
