It's my good ol' grandad that informed me about this radio programme, he told me it was the longest running radio show and it was always his favourite. Going into detail about what happened during the show and what it was about, it got me thinking that night about which three songs I would take on a desert island with me. I set it down to go with my three moods; very unhappy, content/mellow, and extremely happy - I only ever seem to feel these moods and I have songs to fit with each (I make playlists for them on my iPod).
And here is my list;
Fats Domino - I Want To Walk You Home
This is for my content days. Those days where I am relaxed and decide to lay down on the beach and do nothing, I'll have decided I have enough coconuts to last me, my house made out of grass and sand hasn't fallen over and so there are no jobs for me to do. 50's music always accompanies me on my relaxation days, it's upbeat enough for my feet to lightly tap to but slow enough for me to be able to fall asleep to, and 'I want to walk you home' is just one of my favourite songs from an amazing era.
The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work
What a beautiful song to be sad to. Trust me, there have been many times where I've been laying on my bed with a bottle of Jack Daniels singing it to myself, obviously I mix the Jack Daniels with coke - I'm not George Best. Now I won't have a bottle of Jack with me, nor a bed but I could easily cuddle onto a coconut and sing along to this tune, it's so beautiful that I wouldn't even notice the coconut.
Keith Moon - Do Me Good
Ah yes, one of the many guilty pleasures that I have. Nothing about this song is particularly good, but if you sing to it at the top of your lungs it'll get you into an amazing mood - this is why it would accompany me on a desert island. There is no song that does a better job of lifting my mood than this one, God only knows why. It's a load of crap, but I love it.
